Bennett Village Awarded Ministry Funding for LTC Redevelopment Project
Halton Hills, Ontario- The Ontario Minister of Long-Term Care, Dr. Merrilee Fullerton announced the investment of $933 million in 80 new long-term care projects, which will lead to thousands of additional new and upgraded long-term care spaces across the province. Bennett Village is pleased to confirm that they are one of the 80 projects being funded in this provincial announcement. The planned redevelopment of the Bennett Centre Long-Term Care will see an increase of beds from 66 to a 160-bed, long-term care residence. It will be located on a 5-acre property, at 225 Halton Hills Drive in Halton Hills. This increase of 94 beds, will directly help address the lack of long-term care beds in North Halton and will support the needs of older adults (65+) population which is projected to double by 2031. The proposed new Bennett Centre Long-Term Care Home will offer two specialized units; one 32 bed unit for residents with behavioural needs and a dedicated 32 bed Francophone unit. Bennett Centre Long-Term Care is one of seven long-term care homes approved to serve the growing Francophone population. It can ensure French speaking older adults in the area receive care in their first language which will improve their care experience and quality of life. “Bennett Village is so pleased to be among the projects being funded by the Ontario Ministry of Long-Term Care. With the support of this funding, we will build an innovative, cutting-edge long-term care home and increase our ability to provide quality, resident-centered long-term care in Halton Region”, stated Brian Clark, Chair of Bennett Village Board. “This latest provincial announcement ensures Bennett Centre Long-Term Care will continue the tradition of excellence in care and being an active part of the community”, said Soo Wong, Executive Director of Bennett Village. With over 200 residents on the waiting list, the new 160 bed Bennett Centre Long-Term Care Home will continue to serve and care for our older adults with respect, dignity, and compassion in Halton Region and beyond. Bennett Centre Long-Term Care is part of Bennett Village, a not-for-profit, charitable organization, located in Halton Hills. We provide a friendly, homelike environment for residents, including caring staff that strive to provide family like, resident-centered care and services to residents every day.
