Cruising for Care- Classic Car Show Fundraiser Coming To Georgetown this Weekend

Bennett Village Hosting a Classic Car Show this Father's Day

Retirement and assisted living faculty Bennett Village is holding a Classic Car Show on Sunday, June 19th, 2022. Georgetown Market Place is hosting the event from 10 am till 2 pm and there is no cost for entry. The event is taking place on Fathers Day, which is a free and fun activity for the whole family to participate in.

Bennett Village’s Philanthropy Officer, Alison Curtis organized and planned the upcoming fundraiser. Curtis joined Bennett Village in January of 2022 and has 20+ years of prior fundraising experience. As the Philanthropy Officer for Bennett Village, Curtis creates opportunities to raise funds for equipment and services that enhance the lives of the residents and staff through events and fundraising initiatives.

“Bennett Centre Long-Term Care is part of Bennett Village, a not-for-profit organization, located in Halton Hills” shares Curtis, “We provide a friendly, home-like environment for residents, including caring staff that strive to provide family-like, resident-centred care and services to residents every day.”

The Bennett Centre has been a part of the Halton community since 1999 and it is a non-profit charitable organization that only profits those in long-term care at the centre. Curtis comments,

“We aim to offer care and living options where area seniors continue to live and thrive. Bennett Village is comprised of the Bennett Centre Long Term Care home and The Gallery Active Living Life lease building. Bennett Centre offers 66 spaces and is licensed and partially funded by the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long Term Care. The Gallery, a separate life lease building, is a great lifestyle option for residents 60+ years of age.”

After two-plus years of being in a lockdown, Curtis believes people are looking for outdoor community events to explore and enjoy. According to Curtis, “These events allow people to feel a sense of normalcy and community spirit. This is an opportunity for the community to come and meet staff and volunteers from Bennett, and get to know us better.”

Curtis also shares that there will be 50/50 draws, raffles, and donations are always welcomed. All funds raised will go to purchase much-needed equipment and programs for the residents. Curtis concludes,

“We are excited that we can host this event on a special day like Father's Day! It is a terrific way to spend the morning and then enjoy a great afternoon dining and shopping in the mall. We hope many people come out and enjoy our ‘Cruise for Care’ fundraiser and have a great time for a great cause!”
