Halton Hills resident, Jason Dickinson, who currently resides in Acton, had played for the Georgetown Raiders AA before moving to the Halton Hurricanes Minor Peewee team. He was drafted into the Ontario Hockey League by the Guelph Storm as a second round pick for the 2011/2012 Season. According to NHL.com, in 2013 he was drafted first round, as the 29th pick overall, to the Dallas Stars, becoming a regular player in the 2018/19 season. Once named to the OHL second All-Rookie Team, competed in the CHL Top Prospects Game and won gold for Canada at the 2013 IIHF World Under-18 Championship.
Saturday marked Jason’s first Stanley Cup Playoff game with the Dallas Stars. He scored the team’s fourth goal in a 4-1 victory over the Tampa Bay Lightning.
Acton UP spoke with his mom Nicola who shared “When he was three, I took him to parent tot skating lessons. Day one, he threw himself on the ice and screamed, so we never went back. But in all seriousness, I wouldn’t change a thing. I’m proud of him for working hard at what he does.”
Jason and the Stars are playing game two tonight starting at 8 p.m.
