“Judgement-Free” Bottle Drive for Upper Credit Humane Society
Are you among the many households finding themselves with a backlog of bottles and cans? Possibly more than ‘normal’ due to coronavirus. The Walker Friendship Lodge wants to help you out while also helping raise necessary funds the Upper Credit Humane Society.
The Upper Credit Humane Society Thrift Store closed its doors mid March, like many other businesses. To help fill that financial void, the lodge has decided to do a bottle drive on Saturday, June 6.
“Many of us already had the date blocked in our calendars to volunteer managing parking at the Highland Games” says Lodge Master, Clark Somerville. “Since the Beer Store wasn’t accepting returns for a while with COVID-19 and the shelter needed funding, we saw it as a win-win.”
Of course, this can’t be a ‘typical’ drive. If you would like to participate you can message lodge members, Stephen Bingham on Facebook Messenger, Clark Somerville on Messenger, or at clarksomerville@gmail.com, or call (905)703-6388 with your address to have your bottles and cans collected.
Alternatively, Walker Friendship Lodge, located at 12 Lindsay Court in Georgetown, will accept drop-offs from June 5-8.
“We will also be collecting pop cans for the Shriners,” says Somerville. Those cans will be used to fund wheelchairs.
And they assure Acton UP the collection is “judgement-free”.
