Residents Invited to Share Stories of Volunteerism

Halton Hills, ON – Canada is celebrating National Volunteer Week from April 18 to 24 with the theme “The Value of One is the Power of Many”.

Volunteers are a vital component to all communities and across Canada, there are over 12.7 million people that give freely of their time and talents.

The annual Volunteer Week is a chance to come together and thank all those that have contributed to better the community.

“Over this past year, there have been many ups and downs,” said Mayor Rick Bonnette. “However, I have witnessed first-hand, the magic of volunteerism where people have gone above and beyond to support others. Volunteerism can be experienced both formally and ad hoc and I thank all of you who have made a difference in someone’s life. Please pass it forward by thanking your neighbour, family, friend or coach for their efforts and let them know they are appreciated.”

The Town invites residents to share a story or message of thanks on letstalkhaltonhills.ca. In keeping with Volunteer Canada’s theme that recognizes 20 years of volunteerism Canada residents are encouraged to note comments about their own volunteer experiences - past or present - or acknowledge people who made a difference in their life.

COVID-19 has brought many challenges including how we celebrate and come together. Caring and sharing in a virtual environment does not change the importance of recognizing the spirit of volunteerism in the Halton Hills community.
