Red Light Runners Targeted in Milton and Halton Hills On average, there is one motor vehicle collision in Halton every week as a result of someone running a red light. Last month, officers from Milton and Halton Hills targeted red light runners in their District in a two-week-long enforcement campaign dubbed "Project Stop on Red". The following charges were laid over the course of the 14-day campaign: 92 individuals were charged with Red light – Fail to stop; 2 individuals were charged with Amber light – Fail to stop; 1 charge of Red light – Fail to yield to traffic; 1 charge of Red light – Proceed before green; 8 charges of Red light – Fail to stop – Warnings; and 1 charge of Red light – Fail to yield to traffic – Warnings. The penalty for running a red light is a set fine of $325 with 3 demerit points being added to a licence upon conviction. During this campaign, intersections without fixed automatic red light cameras were targeted for enforcement. Halton Red Light Camera Program – Did You Know? Town of Halton Hills: 10 Side Road and Eighth Line 10 Side Road and Ninth Line Trafalgar Road and 5 Side Road If vehicles are caught on camera going through or failing to yield at a red light, the registered owner of the vehicle will receive a ticket. The set fine is $325. Tickets arrive in the mail or are personally served to you. You have 45 days to pay a mailed ticket and 30 days for a personally-served ticket.
