11 Twister Teams to Compete at OWHA Provincial Championship this Weekend

11 Twister Teams to Compete at OWHA Provincial Championship this Weekend 11 Twister teams will dawn Teal, Black and White this upcoming weekend at the Ontario Women’s Hockey Association Provincial Championships held across the GTA. The Twisters have at least 1 team attending the Provincial Championships across all age categories. The 11 teams who earned a spot in the Provincial Championships held a combined Playdown record of 24-4-3, which is a very impressive stat for the Twisters as an association meaning that only 4 games were lost across 31 games and 11 teams. Heading into the Provincial Championships the Twisters are preparing hard in their final stretch of practices leading up to April 5. For individual team match ups see below. Novice A The Novice A team has enjoyed a great run so far this season picking up 6 total medals that include 2 gold, 3 silver and a recently added bronze at the Lower Lakes Championships last weekend. The Novice A team will enter the Provincial Championships looking for revenge after picking up a lone win at the LLFHL championship. GM1: Friday April 5 vs Whitby @ Mastercard Centre 8:15am GM2: Friday April 5 vs Oakville @ Mastercard Centre 12:15pm GM3: Saturday April 6 vs Markham-Stouffville @ Westwood 10:30am Atom AA The Atom AA Twisters have enjoyed a strong season despite being doubted by competition at the beginning of the season. The Atom AA team has proved that they are a contender at the AA level and it would not be surprising if the team picks up another medal at the Provincial championship. This season the AA Twisters have picked up a gold in Kanata and are coming off a recent silver medal finish from the Lower Lakes Championships. GM1: Friday April 5 vs Etobicoke @ Chesswood 8:15am GM2: Friday April 5 vs Aurora @ Chesswood 2:45pm GM3: Saturday April 6 vs Whitby @ Scotiabank Pond 12:00pm Atom BB After a heart breaking exit from Lower Lakes contention the Atom BB team will be filled with fire as they hit the ice in the 2019 OWHA Provincial Championship. The Atom BB team has picked up a gold and silver medal this season and will be hungry for more as they hit the ice Friday morning at the CAA Centre in Brampton. GM1: Friday April 5 vs Mississauga @ CAA Centre 10:45am GM2: Friday April 5 vs Kanata @ CAA Centre 3:30pm GM3: Saturday April 6 vs North Simcoe @ Westwood Arena 12pm Atom B The Atom B team has played lots of hockey so far this season from LLFHL play, play-offs, playdowns and 6 tournaments. The B team has picked up an incredible 4 gold medals and a lone silver but the most important tournament of their 2018-19 season kicks off this Friday at York University when they take on the Waterloo Ravens in game 1 of the OWHA Provincial Championship. The B team has rightful earned their spot in the Provincial Championship and they are hoping to bring home another medal to add to their already phenomenal season! GM1: Friday April 5 vs Waterloo @ Canlan York 9:15am GM2: Friday April 5 vs Toronto Leaside @ Canlan York 4:00pm GM3: Saturday April 6 vs Sudbury @ Canlan York 9:30am Peewee A The North Halton Twisters Peewee A team has played some of their best hockey in the past month leading up to the OWHA Provincial Championship. The A team has won 2 gold medals this season with their most recent win coming in March at the Toronto Leaside tournament. Starting this Friday in Mississauga the Peewee A team will be looking for yet another medal to add to their season total. GM1: Friday April 5 vs Sault Ste.Marie @ Meadowvale 10:45am GM2: Friday April 5 vs Nepean @ Meadowvale 6:45pm GM3: Saturday April 6 vs Kingston @ Meadowvale 9:30am Peewee BB The Peewee BB Twisters who finished third during regular season play are looking to add yet another accomplishment to their 2018-19 season at the OWHA Provincial Championships starting Friday in Etobicoke. The Twisters will face one of their long time rivals the Oakville Hornets in game 1 setting the tone for the rest of the weekend. GM1: Friday April 5 vs Oakville @ Canlan Etobicoke 10:45am GM2: Friday April 5 vs Chatham @ Canlan Etobicoke 5:15pm GM3: Saturday April 6 vs Aurora @ Canlan Etobicoke 9:30am Peewee B The LLFHL Central Division regular season champions are looking at add another piece of hardware to their list of accomplishments from the 2018-19 season. The Peewee B team has enjoyed a great season picking up gold medals in Clearview and Orillia along with picking up a silver medal in Guelph. In the Provincial Championship the Twisters will face the Mitchell Meteors (10-11-1), the Kitchener Lady Rangers (9-10-3) and finally the Kemptville Storm (16-4-5) in the final game of round robin play. The Twisters will start the tournament Friday morning at South Fletchers in Brampton. GM1: Friday April 5 vs Mitchell @ South Fletchers 8:15am GM2: Friday April 5 vs Kitchener @ South Fletchers 4pm GM3: Saturday April 6 vs Kemptville @ Earnscliffe 8:00am Bantam A The Bantam A Twisters have shown great adversity in tournament play this season bring home a gold medal from both the Pittsburgh and Toronto Leaside tournaments. The Bantam A team finished the regular season with a 7-10-5 record and were eliminated in round one of the LLFHL play-offs. The Bantam A team was not ready for their season to end and they battled hard in their OWHA Provincial Playdowns games to earn one of twenty-four spots at the OWHA Provincial Championship. The Bantam A team will kick off the Provincial Championship Friday afternoon vs Napanee at Chesswood Arena. GM1: Friday April 5 vs Napanee @ Chesswood 12pm GM2: Friday April 5 vs Stratford @ Chesswood 6:45pm GM3: Saturday April 6 vs Oakville @ Chesswood 9:30am Bantam B The Bantam B Twisters who were also eliminated in the the first round of LLFHL play-offs, fought hard during Provincial Playdowns so their season could continue. During Playdowns the B team was able to fight their way into the OWHA Provincial championship where they will take on the Ottawa Ice in game 1 at Canlan Ice Sports in Etobicoke. GM1: Friday April 5 vs Ottawa @ Canlan Etobicoke 12pm GM2: Friday April 5 vs TCDGHA @ Canlan Etobicoke 7:45pm GM3: Saturday April 6 vs Lambeth @ Canlan Etobicoke 10:45am Midget AA The Midget AA team is on the road to the Esso Cup. To advance to the Esso Cup, which is being hosted in Sudbury this month they must win the OWHA Provincial Championship which would make them eligible to represent Ontario against the top female midget teams across the country. The Twisters won’t have it easy as they face-off Thursday night against the Toronto Aeros at Westwood Arena in game 1. GM1: Thursday April 4 vs Toronto @ Westwood 6:15pm GM2: Friday April 5 vs Nepean @ Iceland 8am GM3: Friday April 5 vs Durham @ Iceland 2pm Midget B After a 2-1-1 Provincial Playdowns run, the Midget B Twisters earned themselves a spot in the Provincial Championship starting this Friday. The Midget B team has a had a season of ups and downs but are looking to add a medal to their season. The Twisters will take on the Brockville Angels in game 1 Friday afternoon. GM1:Friday April 5 vs Brockville @ Meadowvale 12pm GM2: Friday April 5 vs South Huron @ Meadowvale 7:45pm GM3: Saturday April 6 vs West Northumberland @ Meadowvale 10:45am
