Acton Rainbow Crosswalk unveiling June 15th

HALTON HILLS, ON – A second rainbow crosswalk for Halton Hills is being installed in Acton at the intersection of Main and River Streets. The official ribbon cutting ceremony will take place on Tuesday, June 15th at 2 pm.

The event will be streamed on Facebook live in accordance with current COVID protocols and residents are invited to join the celebrations virtually taking place in front of the Halton Hills Public Library Acton Branch.

“The second rainbow painted crosswalk in Acton represents a permanent show of support for our 2SLGBTQ+ community,” said Mayor Rick Bonnette. “And it’s also a visible reminder that everyone is welcome in Halton Hills.”

The multi-coloured crosswalk, located adjacent to the Acton Branch of the Library, represents the Town’s commitment to embracing diversity and inclusion and shows support for Halton Hills 2SLGBTQ+ residents.

“I am pleased to see Halton Hills showing support for Pride and the 2SLGBTQ+ community with the addition of a second rainbow crosswalk located in Acton,” said Councillor Clark Somerville. It represents an opportunity to stand in support of diversity and inclusion.”

The first rainbow crosswalk installed in Halton Hills in 2020 is located at the intersection of Market and Church Streets in Georgetown.
