Age for Youth Taxi Script Changes to Support More Young People

HALTON HILLS, ON. Increasing the age of eligibility for the Youth Taxi Scrip Program will serve a greater number of young people in the community. That’s the message from Halton Hills Mayor Rick Bonnette who notes: “Until such time when we have a local transit system, it’s important that we continue to leverage opportunities to support easy and affordable means to travel throughout the community.” The Youth Taxi Script Program provides registered riders between the ages of 13-24, a 40% discount on regular taxi fares with participating companies. Previously eligibility for the program was up to 19 years of age. Expanding the age range improves travel options for youth to access continuing education opportunities, employment, and recreational activities in Halton Hills. An ActiVan application for youth form must be completed in order to participate in the program. For more information, visit the website at HaltonHills.ca or call 905-702-6435. Taxi scrip books cost $12 with a face value of $20; registered users may purchase up to 4 taxi scrip books per month from the following locations:

  • Robert C Austin Operations Centre (by appointment only)

  • Mold-Masters SportsPlex

  • Gellert Community Centre

  • Georgetown Lotto Booth (located inside Georgetown Marketplace)

  • Halton Hills Library locations (both Acton & Georgetown)

  • Town Hall - Service Halton Hills

  • Links2Care (Acton location - 47 Mill Street East)
