Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, its local super hero Sarah Brophy-Platts and the Royal LePage Escarpment team at their annual pumpkin giveaway.
You may remember this event as part of the Trick or Treat on Mill and Main held in Downtown Acton. Unfortunately, due to COVID, the annual BIA event has had to go to a new virtual format, but the Royal LePage team was unphased.

Alex Hilson, BIA Manager and Lloyd McIntyre of the Acton Townhall Centre allowed the group to use Town Hall grounds as the site for the 2020 giveaway. Participants were asked to sign up online in order to collect attendees’ personal information in the event COVID tracing is required. They were also encouraged to wear masks and maintain social distancing.
“All the pumpkins were sourced from local farms” Sarah Brophy-Platts tells Acton UP. “I feel very fortunate to be able to give back to the community that supports my business as well as supporting local farmers in the process. I grew up here, I’m raising my own family here now and I can’t tell you how exciting it is to be able to put on events like this and keep our community a tight knit community – especially in these times.”
A virtual pumpkin carving contest was added to the event this year. Carve your pumpkin and post a photo on the Facebook event page. The winner and runner up will be announced at noon on October 31 and will receive gift cards for local businesses.
Thank you to the Royal LePage Escarpment team for keeping traditions alive and giving back to the community at the same time.
