Atom B Twisters Find Silver Lining in Cambridge Last week in Twister action the Atom teams were dominate across all levels. The Atom AA team Had a home and home series this past weekend with the Etobicoke Dolphins where they went 2-0-0 picking up 4 huge points in the standings to clinch second place overall in the Atom AA West Division of the LLFHL (Lower Laker Female Hockey League). The AA team is now heading into their final weekend of LLFHL play where they will take on the third place Oakville Hornets in the final game of the regular season. In Atom BB news, the team currently sits in second place of the South Central Atom BB Division, where the are awaiting the finish of the rest of the division to determine their play-off position. Over the past week the BB team took part in the Cambridge Roadrunners Annual New Years tournament where the unfortunately fell short of advancing to the medal round losing a heart breaking quarter-final match 1-0 to the Grand River Mustangs. In Atom B news, the B team also travelled West on the 401 to the Cambridge New Years Classic, where they finished the round robin with an impressive 3-0-0 record where they outscored their opponents 8-0. The Twisters earned a much deserved bye into the tournament semi-finals where they shutdown the Ancaster Avalanche 3-0 to earn to earn a birth into the championship game Sunday afternoon. Heading into the championship game goaltender Eden Boycott had turned aside every shot she had faced giving up no goals through 16 periods of play. In the championship game the Twisters once again faced Ayr, after 3 periods of play the teams were tied 1-1 heading into the extra frame. The first overtime period seemed to solve nothing as the the stage was now set for a double overtime game, unfortunately for the Atom B team Ayr was too much to handle in 2 on 2 overtime where they lost a heartbreaking championship game 2-1. In Cambridge, Courtney Duff, Brooke Faria, Madison Fletcher, Isabella Daddabbo and Sarah Wilkie all picked up MVP honours. In LLFHL action the Atom B team currently sits in third place with a 12-5-3 record, the B team still has 2 games remaining with hopes of moving into second place heading into the play-offs. The top of the Atom B division had already been clinched by the Stoney Creek Sabres who currently have a record of 17-2-0 with 3 games remaining. The B team has enjoyed a phenomenal season thus far claiming a medal in each of the tournaments they have entered, including 4 gold medals and a silver. The Twisters Association is looking forward to seeing how the Atom B team will stack up with LLFHL play-offs and OWHA Provincial Play-downs just around the corner. Next week both the Bantam A and Bantam B teams will be in Orangeville to take part in the 41st annual Orangeville Sweetheart tournament while the rest of the Twisters Representative teams are hoping for a strong finish in the final week of LLFHL regular season play.
