CFHN Webathon Awards Halton Hills Public Library $10,000

HALTON HILLS, ON/ November 29, 2021 – Halton Hills Public Library (HHPL) has been awarded a cheque for $10,000 from the Community Foundation of Halton North (CFHN), for being one of the chosen charities at their Webathon 2021 event on October 2, 2021.

CFHN is a foundation that inspires and contributes to the quality of life for residents in Halton North by building endowment funds through strategic grant making and opportunities for philanthropic leadership. This year, the CFHN Webathon achieved its goal of raising $100,000, thereby granting 10 charities of choice $10,000 each.

The Webathon, an online, virtual event, included 10 hours of programming, exhibiting a series of interviews and videos that highlighted local charities, generous sponsors, CFHN and the importance of their coordinated efforts within the community.

Halton Hills Public Library was invited to participate in the Webathon as a charity of choice because of its strong commitment to literacy, learning, and reading readiness programs and because it provides spaces that facilitate intergenerational and family learning in a safe environment. HHPL enhances and improves library services, resources and programs through donations, grants, legacies, fundraising, gifts in celebration and memoriam, Giving Tuesday donations and other philanthropic means. Staff at HHPL created and produced three separate videos for the Webathon that highlighted the library’s value, demonstrating how it gives back to the community through high-quality programming, services, resources and a wide range of materials for everyone of every age.

“We are delighted and thrilled to be awarded these funds, which will help us to increase and enhance our services for the community,” said Melanie Southern, Chief Librarian. “As a community pillar, Halton Hills Public Library is committed to offering spaces that nourish creativity, remove barriers, offer acceptance, and promote lifelong learning for all. I encourage everyone to stop by and discover all your local library offers and how it can enrich and change your life. Through generous donations like these, we are able to make your library the very best it can be."
