Dishing it UP for Active Living

Hillsview Active Living Centre in Acton is just as described, active. They host a wide range of activities including exercise classes like bone builder, Zumba, line dancing, and gentle stretching. They also host speakers, social dinners, Friday lunches, Euchre, a book club, movies and the list goes on. COVID19 has impacted their social calendar but this spirited Funding Committee still pulled off a sold out Fish Fry fundraiser for the centre on Friday, September 1. “We pre-sold 120 dinners in just 4 days” David McLean tells Acton UP, “and we are hoping to repeat the event on September 29.” The $15 dinner includes fish, chips, drink and dessert. Participants booked one of four time slots, 5, 5:30, 6, or 6:30pm. Volunteers meet you in the “drive thru” to collect your ticket(s) and pass you your meal which is prepared by MacMillans’ Chow Hound Truck. The committee wishes to thank MacMillans, McDonalds, the members, the community and the Town of Halton Hills for their support which contributed to the event’s success.
