GEORGETOWN, April 14, 2021 - Georgetown resident Gord Cummings was recently honored with the Halton Volunteer Impact Award by Community Development Halton, during the National Volunteer Week (April 18-24). Cummings has been a volunteer at Links2Care since May 2007, primarily working as a Meals on Wheels volunteer.
Throughout the challenging period of the COVID-19 pandemic, Cummings quickly adapted to all necessary changes and regulations, ensuring that Links2Care's programs continued to run smoothly and safely. His dedication has allowed the organization to serve vulnerable populations, such as seniors and adults with disabilities.
Cummings is responsible for transporting midday meals from Milton to the Georgetown offices several mornings a week, where they are then delivered by other volunteers to those in need. When faced with a shortage of volunteers, Cummings has stepped up, delivering meals to the Acton office or directly to clients.
In addition to his role with Meals on Wheels, Cummings has also contributed significantly to the success of Links2Care's Congregate Dining Program, which provides catered meals for seniors' evening dinners. He picks up the meals from designated restaurants and delivers them to the seniors' buildings.
Links2Care values Cummings' unwavering commitment, adaptability, and communication skills. His genuine people skills and sense of humor have added warmth to the organization, fostering social connections for those in need during a particularly uncertain time. Links2Care extends their heartfelt thanks to Gord Cummings for his selfless dedication.
