Halton Hills Public Library Announces One Book, One Halton Hills 2020 Book Title and Author

HALTON HILLS, ON/ July 14, 2020 – This year marks the 10th Anniversary of HHPL’s One Book, OneHalton Hills author event, and your local library is happy to announce that Recipe For a Perfect Wife by Karma Brown is the feature title and author to mark this celebratory year. Karma Brown is a Canadian award-winning journalist and author of the bestselling novels Come Away With Me and The Choices We Make. In addition to her novels, Karma's writing has appeared in publications such as Redbook, SELF, and Chatelaine. Karma lives just outside Toronto with her husband, daughter, and their labradoodle, Fred. Recipe For A Perfect Wife is a number one, International Bestseller and has been deemed a bold, intoxicating, page-turner by Taylor Jenkins Reid, a New York Times Bestselling Author. It’s a captivating novel in which a modern-day woman finds inspiration in hidden notes left by her home’s previous owner, a quintessential 1950s housewife. As she discovers remarkable parallels between this woman’s life and her own, it causes her to question the foundation of her own relationship with her husband–and what it means to be a wife fighting for her place in a patriarchal society. Uniquely woven through the storyline are delicious recipes from the 1950s, that can easily find their way to your dinner table today. The Halton Hills Public Library invites the community of Halton Hills to borrow a copy of Recipe For A Perfect Wife from the digital library on CloudLibrary and join in the celebration of One Book, One Halton Hills for 2020. In September HHPL will be hosting a One Book, One Halton Hills celebration night with Karma Brown, where she’ll chat about her book and her writing process. More details will follow. “We are excited and honoured to have Karma Brown as our 10th anniversary One Book, One Halton Hills author,” says Danielle Dawe, Adult Services Librarian. “Recipe For a Perfect Wife really delves into the lives of its two female characters and the secrets they keep. It's a novel that will spark discussion about what it means to be a housewife, and whether things have really changed since the 1950's. Karma Brown will join us virtually in September for a special online author visit, and additional programs are planned for the fall. We're thrilled to bring these events to Halton Hills." The community can enjoy trivia, recipes and quizzes on social media, leading up to the One Book event in September.
