Human Trafficking Charges Laid in Burlington Investigation On May 13, 2020, members of the Halton Regional Police Service attended a hotel in Burlington in regards to an unknown problem. Officers arrived on scene where they identified a female victim who wished to speak with investigators about her involvement and exploitation in the sex trade. The accused had fled the scene however responding officers located him nearby and placed him under arrest. Charged: Amir Mehrani (46) of North York Charges: -Adult Procuring by Exercise Control -Adult Withholding or Destroying Documents -Adult Trafficking in Persons -Adult Material Benefit Resulting From Trafficking in Persons Material Benefit Mehrani has been held in custody pending a bail hearing. The Drug and Human Trafficking Unit is continuing the investigation.
