We had a great response from the schools for our Remembrance and Poster Contest. We thank the staff and students for their efforts. We appreciated the work done by the kindergarten students. Due to the circumstances this year, we will not have an awards ceremony. The certificates and prize monies will be sent to the schools to be given to winning students. The schools will announce the winning entries at the school level. First place entries have gone on to be judged at the zone level. We wish those students’
good luck.
Chairman Billy Mathers extends his thanks to all the volunteers who took part in this years Poppy Campaign. Despite the restrictions placed upon us, we managed to raise almost $13k, and though, down considerably from the usual $20k that we have averaged over the past five years, we still consider this a success under the circumstances. We are especially grateful to “Sweet Molly” s for their extra help in not only the fundraising but in matching the funds raised on their premises.
The ongoing work to our Beer Cooler is well under way and should be completed by early January. So, when we are finally given permission to open, then it will feel like we have a new bar.
The Executive, and their families, extend their wishes to all our Membership for a very Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays We hope to see you all soon, in the coming Year.
This message from Branch 197 President Wes Kutasienski: The past nine months have been exceedingly difficult for our branch and its members. If I have not done so already, I would like to THANK our officers, our executive members, and our volunteers, for their patience, understanding, and efforts during this time of the branch closure.
Stay safe and well during these trying times.
