Legion News - February 2020

Legion News

Prior to the General Meeting on February 10th we initiated 6 new members as follows, Associates: Scott Cormier, Kelly Lee Montgomery, Karen Posendorf, Andrew Leger, and Jackie Cunningham. Affiliate: Lisa Marie Georganes. Please make them feel welcome when you meet them.

The February 14th Friday social meal was enjoyed by over 30 people, and the dance was a lot of fun.

The Annual Winter Fun Day on Sunday February 16th went off well and the kids had a ball.

Apparently the numbers were down for the last social and also the winter fun day. Maybe we should be doing something different. I am sure the Executive would appreciate some constructive feedback from the membership. If members have any suggestions, You can email: rclbr197@cogeco.net, or speak to one of the Executive members.

Peggy is looking for information on the Coleman family who lived on Bower Ave during war. She would like to return war letters to family written by their father. If anyone knows this family contact branch and leave a message for Peggy.

On Saturday March 7th Branch 197 will be celebrating our Ladies Auxiliary with a Dinner and Dance. I understand this event is open to the membership after 9pm. Entertainment by “The Right Sound”. Please contact Lynda Fischer if you wish to volunteer at this event.

This weekend we will be hosting the Zone Euchre tournament, and we are expecting 36 teams of four players so we should be quite busy day for the Branch. Contact David Mclean if you wish to volunteer your help. Also this weekend you see a new version of ‘Meat and Mingle’.

Sunday March 22nd is scheduled for us to make the annual visit Sunnybrook Hospital. Look for the list going up on the board and put your name down if you want to go on the bus. This is always a heartwarming trip which the Veterans thoroughly enjoy.

Saturday April 4th is the date scheduled for the Ham Roll. Further details to follow.

Please check the notices behind the bar for upcoming events as well as our webpage at legion197.com
