Peggy and her Executive send Happy New Year wishes to all of our Branch 197 comrades.
January 25th is the date our Remembrance Day contest winners will be invited to the Legion to accept their Awards. One of those winners, Quinn Lucko, placed 2nd at Zone 7B, in the Junior level with his award-winning Essay. Congratulations Quinn.
The New Years eve concert was a resounding success, as was the New Years Day levee. Les would like to thank all the volunteer who made both events possible. On Levee Day the draw was made for the three Early bird members to win free membership for 2024. Angie tells me that the following names were picked. Sue Vallance, Laura Munday and Joan Maloney. Congratulations Ladies !!
January 7th the Zone cribbage took place at the Milton Legion and the results for branch 197 are in. We placed second with the team of Keith Andrews, John Uiterwyk, Jack Mowat and Richard Shannon. In 5th place we had, Ken Edwards, David McLean, Dan Jensen and Len Lovely. Taking 6th place we had, John Wagg, John Myles, Bob Service and Bob Hastie. All these card players have qualified for the district tournament which takes place in Tillsonburg, on February 4th.
On Saturday January 28th, Branch 197 Acton will be hosting the Zone B7 Senior darts.
Winter Horseshoes will take place on Sunday January 29th. Contact Keith if you want to participate.
After a three-year hiatus we are planning a trip to Sunnybrook Veterans Hospital on Sunday February 26th. Look for the list going up on the board and add your name to it if you wish to join us. This is always a wonderful experience.
