November 11th was a quiet, muted affair, with no Cadets or School children present. Not surprising, people still gathered to watch the Executive and selected team of ceremonial participants attend to their duties. We say thank you to all who attended, and to the respectful way you acted. All wore masks and all kept their social distance.
Thank you also to ACTON for the way you responded to our Poppy drive !!! the enthusiasm shown by the local community has been amazing. Local businesses like the Sweet Molly’s, and the Red Harp who sold our merchandise, Schools, and individuals who had fund drives, and of course the Legion team pulled together by Billy Mathers who got the boxes out there and counted the returns.
Another team of outstanding volunteers helped Lynda Fischer put together the Drive by Swiss Chalet dinner which was enjoyed 173 donors. The drive by went smoothly and Lynda is grateful to the team who responded to call for help. We hope to do another Curbside (or Kerbside) pickup Dinner soon.
Peggy tells me that we received many entrants for this year’s Remembrance Day, Art and Poetry competition, with many excellent entries. We will post the names all the winners on social media.
