Mayor Bonnette Announces he will Not Run for Re-election in 2022

The Halton Hills Chamber of Commerce held their annual Mayor's Lunch and State of the Union at the Club at North Halton in Georgetown. The Mayor talked about the numerous steps the town has taken over the pandemic to support businesses as well as planning for the town's future. Perhaps nothing he shared compared to the news that he would not be seeking re-election. "It will be forty years including nineteen years as Mayor. It's been a privilege and a total honour and the most humbling experience to be Mayor of this wonderful town". Bonnette says he wants potential candidates to have the maximum amount of time to prepare for the coming election, which is why he making the announcement now.
