New Business Concierge Program Supports Major Investments

Halton Hills, ON – “It’s about business attraction and support for major investments,” said Mayor Rick Bonnette when asked to describe the Town’s new Business Concierge Program. Leveraging past successes, the program takes a proactive approach to identifying key economic development opportunities and streamlining the review process. Eligible projects will receive a ‘white-glove service’ through a single point of contact dedicated to facilitating easy navigation throughout the investment, development and opening process. “The Business Concierge Program will be an integral component to supporting the Town’s financial health by growing our non-residential assessment base,” said the Mayor, noting that “Growing the tax base allows the municipality to deliver the programs and services residents and businesses have come to expect which in turn supports our high quality of life.” An estimated $1B worth of potential investments and/or leads from over 20 potential projects is in the pipeline that Town staff are working to bring to fruition. Key benefits of the Business Concierge Program include attracting top-tier businesses to grow and diversity the local economy, continuing to expedite the development review process and external agency collaboration, and supporting related economic development strategies. Eligibility for the Business Concierge Program for non-residential investments includes meeting one or more of the following criteria:

  • Project comprises a large development in the Premier Gateway, Georgetown Employment Area or Acton Employment Area.

  • Minimum of 100,000 sq. ft. of gross floor area.

  • High profile and complex proposal.

  • Major employment (100+ jobs) and assessment generator (total number of jobs and job density).

  • Major office, commercial/retail use, mixed-use or tourism generator.

  • Large monetary investment (i.e. 100s of millions of dollars).

  • Key sector aligned with the Town’s priority sectors (e.g. advanced manufacturing, clean technology, tourism, food and beverage, office).

  • Project faces urgent timelines.
