HALTON HILLS, ON. The Town’s new, recently launched website, haltonills.ca, allows residents to access and pay for popular municipal services online. Transactions that previously required a trip to Town Hall, such as applying for a marriage license, acquiring and renewing dog licences and securing burn permits can now be done virtually. As well, in addition to the ability to submit citizen inquiries, the website offers new, easy-to-use forms to submit enforcement complaints and service requests.
Building on best practices incorporated into the earlier update, the website retains much of the previous aesthetic with a new operating system that is easier to navigate and offers enhanced features and functionality. Added features on the landing page for easy entry include: “Get Active”, “Subscribe”, “E-Services”, “Calendars” and “Have Your Say”.
“Our new website offers convenient access to many Town services anytime, from anywhere,” said Mayor Rick Bonnette. “What we are seeing during the COVID-19 crisis, is that increasingly people are looking for immediate access to information and goods and services from their homes and that’s not likely to change.”
In addition to updated information, calendars and events, the new site provides seamless entry to by-laws, facilities, parks, and licenses. By utilizing the new “Subscribe” feature, residents can receive updates to individual web pages, events, Media Releases, Mayor’s Messages and E-newsletters. Users are encouraged to use the “Feedback” button on every page to help inform the continuous improvement, usability and relevance of the site.
The new website was funded in part from the Municipal Modernization Fund for Efficiencies established by the Province in 2019.
“The new website takes our customer service to a whole new level,” said Brent Marshall, Chief Administrative Officer. “The infrastructure is innovative and efficient and can be scaled up to support future expansion when we are able to move more services online
