Pumpkin Promenade lights UP Acton's Town Hall

The first annual Pumpkin Promenade was last night, November 1, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Acton Town Hall on Willow Street.

This event is organized by Carolyn Elston, Sarah Brophy Platts and Chris Cassey.

“We were hopeful to get 75 to 100 pumpkins and were thrilled with the outpouring, receiving nearly 160 pumpkins with people even picking up and delivering friend’s and neighbour’s pumpkins,” says Carolyn.

The event also collected around 20 uncarved pumpkins.

“This town has shown us such big hearts and warmed our souls while dropping off these pumpkins. Everyone is so excited to see their jack-o-lanterns lit up tonight and feel even better knowing their pumpkins will be enjoyed by our local farm animals,” Sarah tells Acton UP.

The team had hoped to see an outpouring of support at last night’s display. The event was open for both drive by and walking.

Despite the snow, the event had an amazing turnout with people traveling from Acton, Rockwood and even Georgetown.

Today, Cody’s Cows collected the pumpkins to be used as feed on their farm.

“In total we had just over 200 Pumpkins (carved and uncarved) and we got quite the work out moving them all indoors overnight and then into the farm wagon for Cody's Cows to take to their farm” said Brophy-Platts.

“We are eagerly looking forward to hosting next years event and have great ideas to make the event even better!! Thank-you so much to all that gave their time to help, came out to enjoy the promenade, Acton Townhall Centre for hosting us and Cody's Cows & their animals!”
