HALTON HILLS, ON - Last month Town Council approved a report directing staff to resume regular parking enforcement operations effective September 14. The move comes as Ontario has transitioned into the recovery phase of the Province’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic. “The Town followed Premier Ford’s direction to ‘relax’ some of our parking by-laws to support businesses and residents during COVID-19,” said Mayor Rick Bonnette. “The time has come however, to return to our regular enforcement practices and address the impacts of increased vehicular and pedestrian traffic. It’s a safety issue.” Enforcement staff has seen a gradual increase in complaints throughout the summer months and parking officers have been issuing warning tags on illegally parked cars as a lead up to the reinstatement of regular operations. Beginning Monday, the Town will resume the Town’s parking program including on- street parking enforcement. Fees for municipal lot permit holders will be collected as of October 1.
