“A Taste of Mediterranean Cuisine” in Acton - opening in September
According to Wikipedia “Shawarma is a dish in Middle Eastern cuisine consisting of meat cut into thin slices, stacked in a cone-like shape, and roasted on a slowly-turning vertical rotisserie or spit. Originally made of lamb or mutton, today's shawarma may also be chicken, turkey, beef, or veal.” Ottawa, Canada is known to have more Shawarma shacks than anywhere outside downtown Lebanon.
Acton UP talked to Madassar Virk or “Moe” about the new restaurant he is opening in his Beckers store at the corner of Highway 7 and Churchill Road. “We purchased this Beckers franchise last September” says Virk who has enjoyed being a part of the Acton community. “Our restaurant will focus on quality, fresh ingredients while keeping prices reasonable.”
He plans to have a beef and a chicken spit, possibly goat as well if there’s a demand. He also wants to offer falafels, chicken on the rocks, fries, wings and fried chicken to his customers, as well as student combos for the lunch crowd. “I have been training with Osmos in Georgetown.”
Shawarma, coming to Acton mid September. Watch for the grand opening.
