This year's Leathertown Festival will take place Sunday, August 12 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The annual one day outdoor Festival along with good weather will draw between 10,000-15,000 mostly local residents to Downtown Acton.
The Festival headline draw this year is a well known children's act, SplashN' Boots, performing twice during the day on the Main Stage by The Red Harp Pub on Mill St. E. at Fellows St. at 11:30 a.m. and again at 2 p.m. This is free to attend. Wear your blue and yellow.
There will also be many other professional Acton and Halton Hills bands, plus entertainment on three stages as well as the car show, all free. The best of Acton and Halton Hills will be at the Leathertown Festival.
Featuring on the Main Stage, The Tone Dogs from Halton Hills with Texas Rockin' Blues at 1 p.m., http://www.tonedogs.ca. Returning due to popular demand, are the 1920's-like trio, The Vaudevillian at 3 p.m. Everyone is sure to get off their doggone caboose as the band scrubs the washboard, slaps the bass, flips the guitar and plays their kazoos and car-horns. Come on out for the hootenanny.
The Inspire Halton stage near Roxy Cafe is hosting Ruby's Revenge, alternative rock at 1 p.m. and announces Flash Concert Sensations of Guelph and Kitchener, and Wicked Truth from Acton at 2 p.m.
Come see the Leather crafting demonstrations by Mississauga Society for Creative Leathercraft will be happening all day, and there will be several leather vendors of purses, wallets, dog collars, belts, and other specialty handcrafted leather items celebrating Acton's heritage in leather. Plus lining the Downtown will be over 100 vendors of unique crafts and gifts and, of course, festival food and ice cream.
Captain Canada will be visiting the Festival for the day on his Superbike. Follow him all day for candy. Be sure to also come see Rev, the Border Collie from Georgetown, star of numerous TV commercials and print ads, with owner Maddisen Phelan of Wizard of Paws Dog Training and Dog Grooming. Maddisen and Rev will demonstrate amazing dog tricks and feats at 1:30 p.m. at the Cenotaph.
The Georgetown Toyota sponsored car show is hosted by Party Cinemas and D/J Anthony Andrews. Entries are accepted on the website leathertownfestival.com.FrThere will be free gifts and prizes and trophies for Best in Show, Best in Show Performance, Best in Show Classic. Limited number of entries, don't be disappointed.
