Writer: Town of Halton Hills Town of Halton Hills

HALTON HILLS, ON. Halton Hills Council received an update on the plans to reopen programs and facilities at its meeting on July 27. Under the Province’s Stage 3 announcement, municipalities in Halton Region were among those that received permission to move to the next phase of openings. The Mayor noted the difference between what was allowed and what the municipality was prepared to do.

“Just because the Province is granting us the ability to open more amenities as of last Friday, this does not mean that we are immediately going to do so,” said Mayor Rick Bonnette. The Mayor’s comments followed a presentation by Director of Recreation Services Samantha Howard who detailed various facility and modified program openings, noting the new precautionary measures implemented to safeguard against spread of the COVID-19 virus.

Brent Marshall, Chief Administrative Officer noted that the municipality had been consistent in taking a thoughtful and strategic approach to managing the reopening of programs and services. “Staff has done an excellent job in prioritizing the health and safety of this community by researching and applying protocols from cleaning, to people management, to new administrative procedures – all with the goal of providing modified services in safe and controlled environments.”
