Town Files Injunction to Cease Illegal Truck Terminal Activities

HALTON HILLS, ON – The Town of Halton Hills has filed an application for an injunction with the Ontario Superior Court of Justice to direct the operators of 8029 Hornby Road and 13265 Steeles Avenue to immediately cease all activities. At issue is the use of the property for the storage of commercial motor vehicles, warehousing, the operation of a transport terminal and the violation of at least seven other Town by-laws and various violations of the Ontario Building Code Act.

Town staff were made aware of the illegal use in 2021 with 48 Provincial Offences Act charges having been issued to date with respect to 8029 Hornby Road. As the transport terminal and related uses have continued and expanded onto the adjoining Steeles property, the Town is seeking a Superior Court injunction in order to bring an end these activities.

The Town application, brought under s. 440 of the Municipal Act, 2001, and s. 38 of the Building Code Act bears Court File No. CV-23-0001996-000.
