HALTON HILLS – ON, Town Hall will re-open to the public for scheduled appointments on September 8 from Tuesday - Thursday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Appointments will be taken for select services that cannot be completed on-line, for small meetings with staff regarding permits, development applications, final review and issuance of marriage licenses or the commissioning of documents by the Clerk’s Office. Drop offs for couriers and the public continue to be available during core business hours from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
“We’re pleased to re-open our building to the public and provide an adjusted level of service at Town Hall,” said Mayor Rick Bonnette. “This careful and gradual return to service provides the public the necessary opportunities to engage with staff as required in a safe environment with new protocols in place.”
Acting CAO, Chris Mills noted that the public should first look to see if their business can be conducted on the website, via email or telephone. “While we are welcoming the public back, we do want to emphasize that the Town offers a range of on-line services such as marriage license applications, acquiring and renewing dog licences and securing burn permits. The website also allows residents and businesses to submit citizen inquiries, enforcement complaints and service requests.”
The Town has implemented mandatory on-line screening for COVID-19 which includes screening questions from Halton Region’s Medical Officer of Health to help determine the likelihood of a person’s exposure to the COVID-19 virus. Residents should visit the COVID-19 web page to complete the screening on the day of their appointment; on-site screening will also be available. Other protocols in place to provide a safe environment include the wearing of masks, installation of plexi-glass barriers, and placement of physical distancing markers and signage both inside and outside of the building.
