HALTON HILLS, ON – The Town of Halton Hills has launched its third set of digital cards with MagnusCards™, a free life-skill app dedicated to removing accessibility barriers for people with cognitive disabilities. The recently completed set includes 5 individual decks outlining various recreation and parks services and is a first of its kind on the MagnusCard™ app.
MagnusCards™ is an ever-expanding library with digital guides to popular destinations and activities. Each digital guide or ‘card deck’ combines a proven method of instruction, combining visual cues with step-by-step instructions. The use of MagnusCards™ provides positive reinforcement and helps guide the user through activities and tasks that might otherwise feel challenging or overwhelming. MagnusCards™ also support experiential learning and can benefit both the user and the caregiver.
“The addition of our most recent MagnusCards deck is another step toward removing accessibility barriers in Halton Hills,” says Mayor Rick Bonnette. “Everyone deserves to enjoy and participate in recreational activities and ‘recreation for all’ is one of our core values and a top priority”.
The completion of the latest digital guide brings the Town’s total to 15 decks for Recreation and Parks, ActiVan and the Halton Hills Public Library.
