HALTON HILLS, ON - The Town of Halton Hills received good news from the Ministry of Transportation that the Young Street/Queen Street reconstruction project in Acton would benefit from up to $1,485,000 in provincial funding. The announcement comes as a result of the Province’s COVID-19 response that injected an additional $10M to the Connecting Links Program that provides monies to municipalities to repair roads and bridges. “This infusion of funds is most welcome and I wish to thank the Minister for selecting one of Halton Hills’ projects,” said Mayor Rick Bonnette. “At a time when we, like all municipalities are prioritizing work given COVID-19 impacts, I am pleased that the Province has recognized the importance of investing in local infrastructure.” The Young Street portion of the project began in June and involves the replacement of storm sewers and full reconstruction of the road. It is anticipated that work will be completed in September. The Queen Street portion of the project is currently under design and is slated for construction in the spring of 2021. The need for reconstruction was identified in 2018 with the goal of improving the safety and function of this critical road. For more information, visit the Town of Halton Hills website.
