On Monday, August 29, 2022, at approximately 10:30 am, the Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) received a call from witnesses reporting multiple persons in distress in the water of Lake Ontario at Coronation Park in Oakville.
The HRPS Marine Unit attended, located and rescued a 10-year-old boy from the water. The boy was physically unharmed but taken to hospital for precautionary reasons.
Oakville Fire and Halton EMS also attended the scene, and a young adult female was pulled from the water near the shore.
Despite the lifesaving efforts of first responders and the Hospital Emergency Medical Unit, the Halton Regional Police Service are deeply saddened to report the young woman has passed away. Police ask that the involved families be granted privacy at this time. Investigators from the 2 District Criminal Investigation Bureau will continue to investigate the occurrence.

The young boy and female are not related but were at the park together. Out of respect for the families involved, police are not providing any more details regarding the victims at this time.
