Arson Investigation in Halton Hills

The Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) is asking for the public's help in an arson investigation. On May 11, 2020 shortly after 10:15 pm police responded to a 911 call for three parked vehicles that were on fire in front of GT Auto located at 546 Guelph Street in the Town of Halton Hills (Norval). Investigators have determined the vehicles were intentionally set on fire in front of the business and it is being treated as arson. The fire was quickly extinguished and there was no damage to the business or surrounding structures. Police are urging anyone who was in the area of Guelph Street and Louisa Street at the time of the incident and anyone who may have dash cam footage from the area to contact the HRPS. Surveillance video obtained by investigators shows a suspect pouring what police believe to be gas on the vehicles and lighting them on fire. The suspect also appears to light one of his feet on fire and is last seen running west across the front of the business towards Louisa Street (see attached photos). The suspect is male and was wearing a black hoodie with the hood up and black sweat pants (see attached photos). A photo of the vehicle of interest in the occurrence has also been attached. It is described as s a gold or silver four door sedan. Possibly a Honda Prelude or Accord. At this time police will not be releasing the surveillance video.
