Attempt Murder Charge Laid in Halton Hills Incident

On August 20, 2022, just before 9:30 am, the Halton Regional Police Service attended a group home in the area of Third Line and 32 Side Road in Halton Hills for reports of a stabbing. Upon police arrival, a victim was located suffering from several lacerations.


The accused attended the home to remove a family member who resides there. While attempting to do so, an altercation ensued between the victim and the accused resulting in the victim being stabbed. The victim is an employee of the group home. The accused fled the scene with the family member in a vehicle and was involved in a collision in the area of 32 Side Road and Fourth Line in Halton Hills. Officers located and arrested the accused who was walking in the area of the vehicle along with the family member.


A 36-year-old male from Quebec has been charged with:

  • Break and Enter

  • Attempt Murder

  • Kidnapping


He was held in custody pending a bail hearing.


The victim was transported to hospital with serious injuries. The family member was not injured and was safely returned to the home.


Due to the nature of the investigation and relationships between the involved parties, the identity of the accused will not be released and no further details will be provided at this time.
