Police have made an arrest after the early morning theft of a pickup truck from a home in Oakville.
On Wednesday February 1, 2023, at approximately 1:30 am, an Oakville resident in the area of Trafalgar Road and Lakeshore Road East in Oakville contacted police to advise they had just seen their pickup truck leave their driveway.
Officers were able to locate the truck and attempted to stop it as it travelled westbound on the Queen Elizabeth Way (QEW) into Burlington. The truck did not stop for police and exited at Brant Street before getting back on the QEW eastbound back towards Oakville.
HRPS officers located the truck again as it was experiencing mechanical issues at the intersection of Upper Middle Road and Third Line in Oakville. At that time, police were able to arrest the driver.
Further investigation identified the suspect to be responsible for the theft of an additional pickup truck in Oakville. This truck was taken from the area of Grand Oak Trail and Westoak Trails Boulevard (also on February 1, 2023). Police are still seeking additional suspects.
28-year-old Toir Bikzad of Toronto has been charged with the following:
