Fatal Single Vehicle Collision in Milton

On Sunday March 29, 2020 at 1910hrs, Halton Regional Police attended a serious collision on Bronte Street North, south of Steeles Avenue in the Town of Milton. Initial reports were that a vehicle was travelling northbound on Bronte Street North, left the roadway and entered a pond on the east side of the road. No occupants were seen exiting the vehicle. When emergency services personnel arrived on scene, the vehicle was fully submerged in the pond. Milton Fire Department, with the assistance of a heavy tow truck, was able to access the submerged vehicle and locate the driver. He was subsequently removed from the vehicle and taken to local hospital. Due to the nature of the injuries, the Collision Reconstruction Unit attended the scene and assumed responsibility for the investigation. While at the scene, investigators learned that the vehicle involved in the collision was stolen. Also, information from the hospital was that the driver, a 34 year old male from Windsor, Ontario had succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. Investigators confirmed that the vehicle, a silver, four door sedan was travelling northbound prior to leaving the roadway.
