The Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) has made an arrest in connection to a break and enter that took place at the Georgetown Marketplace Mall. On April 7, 2022, two suspects broke into a lottery kiosk inside the mall after the mall was closed. The suspects stole lottery tickets and attempted to activate them at a nearby convenience store.
On May 3, 2022, a media release was issued requesting assistance in identifying the suspects. One of the suspects was identified with help from the community and further investigation led to the identification of the second suspect.
On the July 15, 2022, investigators from the 1 District Criminal Investigations Bureau executed a search warrant at a residence in Georgetown. One of the suspects was arrested inside the residence.
Steven Collins (42) of Georgetown has been charged with:
Break, Enter and Commit
Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000
Collins was released from custody on an undertaking with a court date.
The second suspect has been identified but remains outstanding. Police are making efforts to locate and arrest this suspect and his identity is not being released at this time.
