Georgetown Man Arrested for Arson Halton Regional Police are currently at the scene of a suspicious house fire in Georgetown. At around 10:30 p.m. Sunday night a female resident of a home on Greystone Crescent became alarmed by a fire at her front window. The fire was extinguished by the time Halton Hills Fire crews and police arrived at the scene. There were obvious signs of tampering with the exterior side of the home's bay view window and evidence of solvents being splashed on it, then ignited. There were no injuries reported. Approximately 45 minutes later a person of interest was located nearby by officers. This 62 year old Georgetown man was taken into custody and is currently being held on one count of arson. Halton Police will not be disclosing the name of the accused nor the relationship between him and the victim at this time. Investigators from the Forensic Identification Bureau as well as the Criminal Investigation Bureau have taken carriage of this case. Police can assure residents that there is no further threat to other homes or structures in the area.
