HALTON HILLS, ON – On June 27, Mayor Ann Lawlor officially relaunched the ‘Love Acton Heart’ art installation. The interactive sculpture, a large metal heart designed by local artist Doris Trelevean of Metalscape Industries Inc., was donated to the Town by Acton Optical. The sculpture allows people to attach padlocks to express their love for the local community.
“This sculpture is truly a donation from the heart and it captures the sentiment that residents of Acton feel for their community,” said Mayor Lawlor. “I’m pleased that the Town of Halton Hills is able to support the installation of this meaningful piece of interactive art by one of our talented local artists.”

The event was attended by local and Regional Councillor Somerville, Ward One Councillors Albano and Hilson, and Nancy Wilkes, owner of Acton Optical and sponsor of the art project, along with her daughter Nicole.
“I am so happy that we have been able to resurrect this sculpture,” said Nancy Wilkes. “With the support of the Town, we now have a beautiful public artwork that will withstand the test of time and serve as an important nod to Acton and the passion that people feel for our community whether they live or work here or are just passing through. We know we have something special.”
The ‘Love Acton Heart’ sculpture is located in the parkette at Mill and Main Streets, where individuals can place their own love locks.
