Police Seize Handgun after Traffic Stop in Halton Hills

The Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) has made a pair of arrests and laid multiple charges after a traffic stop in Halton Hills.


On April 18, 2023, at approximately 1:40 am police conducted a traffic stop on Main Street North in Georgetown. The officers quickly identified readily available cannabis and conducted a Cannabis Control Act search of the vehicle. During the search, officers located a loaded handgun with an extended 30 round magazine. Officers also located cocaine, MDMA and fentanyl in the vehicle.


Both the driver and the passenger of the vehicle were arrested by police.


Kofi Jenkins (24) of Kitchener has been charged with:

  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm

  • Possession of a Loaded Firearm

  • Possession of a Prohibited Device (extended magazine)

  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm in a Motor Vehicle

  • Possession for Purpose of Trafficking (Cocaine)

  • Possession for Purpose of Trafficking (MDMA)

  • Possession for Purpose of Trafficking (Fentanyl)


Camilus Charles (23) of Shelburne has been charged with:

  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm

  • Possession of a Loaded Firearm

  • Possession of a Prohibited Device (extended magazine)

  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm in a Motor Vehicle

  • Possession for Purpose of Trafficking (Cocaine)

  • Possession for Purpose of Trafficking (MDMA)

  • Possession for Purpose of Trafficking (Fentanyl)

  • Fail to Comply with Court Order


Both accused were held in custody pending a bail hearing in Milton.
