"Project Umbreon” Leads to Arrest of Male Responsible for Collectible Store Break-Ins

The Halton Regional Police Service – 2 District Criminal Investigations Bureau has made two arrests in relation to a break and enter investigation dubbed “Project Umbreon”.


In February 2023, investigators identified a suspect who was believed to be responsible for several commercial break and enters that targeted collectible stores in Oakville, Burlington, York, London, Brantford and Niagara.


On February 24, 2023, investigators executed Criminal Code search warrants at a residence and storage facility in Hamilton that were associated to the suspect. A search warrant was also executed on a vehicle belonging to a female connected to the suspect.


As a result of the search warrants, investigators seized a large quantity of collectible items stolen during recent break and enters. The stolen items included high valued sports cards, Pokémon and other collectible cards, comic books and figurines (see attached photo). The estimated value of the stolen collectibles is approximately $400, 000.


Investigators are working to identify the rightful owners of the stolen items.


Jarreh Grant (32) of Stoney Creek has been charged with:

  • Break and Enter (4 counts)

  • Disguise with Intent (4 counts)

  • Trafficking in Property Obtained by Crime

  • Possession of Break and Enter Instruments

  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000

  • Possession of a Controlled Substance – Crack Cocaine

  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order

  • Grant has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

  • Sarah Skrtich (32) of Hamilton has been charged with:

  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000

  • Skrtich was released on an Undertaking.
