The Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) has located and arrested the prisoner that was released in error by staff at the Maplehurst Correctional Complex on August 17, 2020. On Thursday August 27, 2020, HRPS officers located and arrested 28 year old Amritpal Singh Aujla in North York. Aujla will face additional charges in connection with his release and arrest. Information on those charges is not yet available. ****ORIGINAL RELEASE**** Halton Police search for prisoner released by mistake from the Maplehurst Correctional Complex in Milton At approximately 11pm on Monday August 17th Halton Regional Police Service were notified by staff from the Maplehurst Correctional Complex that a prisoner had been released in error. Halton Regional Police are requesting the assistance of the public to locate this male and return him to custody. The inmate released is Amritpal Singh AUJLA (28). He was last seen leaving the correctional complex on foot and is described as follows: Male, east Indian, 5'10", slim build, weighing approximately 170lbs, black shoulder length hair, black beard, wearing a black Tommy Hilfiger track suit with a large Tommy Hilfiger symbol printed in the middle of the chest.
