The Halton Regional Police have made an arrest in connection with an attempted auto theft in Milton.
On February 21 2024 at approximately 3:15am Halton Regional Police were dispatched to an address in the area of Woodward Avenue and Thompson Road North, Milton, after suspects attempted to steal a 2024 Toyota Tundra Pickup Truck. Officers quickly attended the area at which time several suspects fled on foot. While attempting to arrest a male in the suspect vehicle one officer was dragged for approximately 50 meters before falling to the ground suffering minor injuries.
The driver of the suspect vehicle escaped, however after continued investigation a suspect who fled on foot was located and arrested in the back yard of a neighbouring residence.

Takiyoudine Oumerzouk (23) from Montreal Quebec was arrested and has been charged with the following:
Theft of Motor Vehicle
Obstruct Peace Officer
Failure to Comply with Release Order

At the time of his arrest, Takiyoudine Oumerzouk was on a release order with conditions not to leave the Province of Quebec.
Oumerzouk was held in custody pending a bail hearing in Milton.
